About the Program:

La Habra Music Center is proud to announce the launch of its new Elementary Music Program!  Qualified teachers will be traveling to local school campuses to offer elementary level music classes after school once a week.  These classes will include recorders (for 3rd graders), violin (for 3rd-6th graders) and band (for 4th-6th graders).  Each semester will culminate in a district-wide winter and spring concert showcasing the students’ musical talents.

This program was originally conceived as a series of classes to be offered at the store with the end goal of accumulating funds for one of our teachers, Miss Pino, to spend a year in Romania bringing music to the orphans there.  In collaboration with Steve Capalbo, it has grown beyond the walls of La Habra Music Center and is going straight to the schools.  A portion of each teacher’s wages will be set aside for the purpose of bringing music to orphans in Romania.

 About the Classes:
Students will learn many important musical skills as well as life skills and will have an enjoyable time doing so. Musical concepts will include note reading, rhythm, melody, as well as history and culture through performance.  Life skills developed will include responsibility (by caring for an instrument), teamwork (by playing as a group), and determination (by practicing and seeing results).  The qualifications to be in each class are listed below:
Recorders: For Third Graders Only
Violin Class: For Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Graders
Band Class: For Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Graders Only

(Band instruments include: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion.  All are based on availability and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis and at the teachers’ discretion.)
